Programs at Chamberlain HS
At Chamberlain HS, there are 6 performing groups:

There is also a Percussion Class (Instrumental
Techniques).
The Marching Band is comprised from students in
the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Percussion Classes.

at Chamberlain High School:
AP MUSIC THEORY
Credit: 1.0 Grades: 11-12
Meets requirement Performing Fine Arts
Study of aural and advanced written music theory with concentration
on chord analysis, four-part writing, composition, transposition,
and music technology. This course involves significantly more time
than the typical high school music course and is not for the
casually interested.
PIANO I & II
Credit: 1.0 Grades: 9-12
Meets requirements Performing Fine Arts
This class provides students with an introduction to piano.
Piano technique and music reading fundamentals are the primary focus
of the class.
CONCERT BAND LEVEL 2
Credit: 1.0 Grades: 9-12
Prerequisites: Participation in the Middle School Band or at
least one year of experience.
Meets requirements Performing Fine Arts The content should
include, but not be limited, enabling students to develop
fundamental skills in characteristic tone production, band
performance techniques, musical literacy, and music appreciation.
SYMPHONIC BAND LEVEL 2
Credit: 1.0 Grades: 9-12
Prerequisites: Concert Band, Teach Approval
Meets requirement for Performing Fine Arts
The content should include, but not limited to, interpreting medium
level band music refining tone production and performance
techniques, understanding of musical form, style and aesthetic
perceptions.
BAND V, VI (HONORS) LEVEL 3
Credit: 1.0 Grades: 11-12
Prerequisites: Concert Band, Teacher Approval
Meets requirements Performing Fine Arts
The content should, but not limited to, interpreting difficult
music; developing independent musicianship, tone production and
performance techniques; analyzing form, style and history in the
performance preparation of varied band literature; formulating
critical listening skills and aesthetic values. It is required
that student plan with instructor requirements they intend to
complete. Two required activates and four activates from
selective curriculum. Student is required to complete
activities from a required list and from a selective curriculum
student will plan with instructor requirements they intend to
complete.
INSTRUMENTAL TECHNIQUES I LEVEL 2
Credit: .5 Grades: 9-12
Meets requirements Performing Fine Arts
The content should include, but not be limited to, instructions in
performance techniques peculiar to percussion instruments with
emphasis placed on technical and musical fundamentals.
INSTRUMENTAL TECHNIQUES II LEVEL 2
Credit: .5 Grades: 9-12
Meets requirements Performing Fine Arts
The content should include, but not be limited to, instructions in
performance techniques peculiar to percussion instruments with
emphasis placed on technical and musical fundamentals and listening
skills.
JAZZ ENSEMBLE I-IV LEVEL 2
Credit: 1.0 Grades: 9-12
Prerequisites: Concert Band, Teacher Approval Required
Meets requirement Performing Fine Arts
The content should include, but not be limited to, the study and
performance of varied medium level popular and jazz idiomatic
literature. Improvisation, characteristic tone, individual and
ensemble performance techniques, and an appreciation of the history
of jazz in the United States are emphasized and applied.
ORCHESTRA I-IV LEVEL 2
Credit: 1.0 Grades: 9-12
Meets requirement for Performing Fine Arts
The content should include, but not be limited to, independent
interpretation of medium level orchestral music; refinement of tone
production and performance techniques; musical form, style period,
and aesthetic perceptions.
ORCHESTRA V, VI (HONORS) LEVEL 3
Credit: 1.0 Grades: 9-12
Prerequisites: Orchestra III, Teacher Approval Required
Meets requirement Performing Fine Arts
The content should include, but not be limited to, interpretation of
difficult level music; development of independent musicianship, tone
production and performance techniques. Analysis of form,
style, and history in the performance preparation of varied
orchestral literature; formulation of critical listening skills and
aesthetic values. Student is required to complete
actives from a required list and from a selective curriculum student
will plan with instructor requirements they intend to complete.
