Instructional Staff
Bruce Herrmann, Jr., Director of Bands:
Mr. Herrmann came to Chamberlain after being the Director of Bands
at East Bay HS in Apollo Beach. Mr. Herrmann was on staff for
the Band of the Mighty Chiefs in 2001-2002 and is excited to be the
'Big Chief' now at CHS. Mr. Herrmann received his degree from
the University of South Florida in Tampa, and was the very first
drum major for the USF "HOT" Herd of Thunder Marching Band.
Dennis Laorenza, Winds: Dennis has been working with Chamberlain since 1999. He is
currently on staff with the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps and has also worked
with the Kiwanis Kavaliers, Tampa Bay Thunder, Cadets of Bergen County, Spirit of Atlanta, and Suncoast
Sound Drum and Bugle Corps. Dennis is an active
clinician with bands in Florida, South Carolina, and Texas, as well
as an active adjudicator throughout the United States.
Brandy Hall, Brass/Marching: Brandy is a past member of the Kiwanis Kavaliers
Drum and Bugle Corps, and has also performed with the Tampa Bay
Thunder Drum and Bugle Corps. Brandy is currently a student at
the University of South Florida in Tampa with a major in Accounting.
Brian Hoover, Visual/Marching:
Brian has been working with the Chamberlain Band
since 2001. Brian was a member of the Chamberlain HS
Band, and served as drum major for three of his four
years. He is currently a teacher at Chamberlain High
School, where he is a member of the Social Studies
Department and leader of Chamberlain's Business and
Mass Communications Tribe.
Stacy Wrenn, Chiefette Sponsor: Mrs. Wrenn is
currently a Psychology teacher at Chamberlain HS. This will be
her third season as Sponsor.
Shelba Waldron, Color Guard Instructor:
This
is Shelba's fourth season with Chamberlain. Shelba was a
member of the Star of Indiana Drum and Bugle Corps during their 1991
Championship season. Shelba has instructed at numerous high
schools in the area, is an instructor for the WGI World Class
Finalist Paradigm Color Guard, and is a certified FFJA
and WGI adjudicator.
Tom Slaughter, Drill Designer: Tom
has designed drill for numerous programs, most
notably the Largo High School Band of Gold up
until 2001. Tom is currently the Chief Judge
for the Florida Federation of Judges Association,
and is an adjudicator for Winter Guard
International as well as a middle school teacher
in the Tampa Bay area.
Jeremy Vest, Percussion Consultant/Battery
Arranger: Jeremy was the Percussion
Director/Arranger for the Chamberlain HS Band from
1998-2006. During this time the drumline won
numerous 'Best Percussion' awards, including 'Best
Percussion' in class 2A at the 2006 FMBC State
Finals. Jeremy is currently the Percussion Director
and Arranger at Newsome HS in Lithia, Fl.
Jeremy has also instructed at Largo HS, Wharton HS,
East Bay HS, Land O Lakes HS, Countryside HS,
Clearwater HS, Hernando HS and the USF "HOT"
Marching Band. Jeremy is an active adjudicator for
the Florida Federation
of Judges Association and the
US Scholastic Band
Association as well as a member of the
Vic Firth
Education Team and the
Percussive Arts Society. Jeremy lives in Tampa
and is currently a Circulation Analyst for Time,
Inc.
Sean O'Loughlin, Wind Arranger:
Sean O’Loughlin is a fresh voice and rising name
in the music publishing world. His music is
characterized by vibrant rhythmic energy and
passionate melodies. Commissions from the Boston
Pops Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and
the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra highlight and
showcase his diverse musical abilities.
Sean’s extensive musical background includes
orchestrating, copying, and proofreading scores
for television and film in Los Angeles. As an
arranger and orchestrator, he has worked with
such artists as Nickel Creek, Pink Martini,
Paris Combo, Boston Brass, Richard Carpenter,
Aoife O’Donovan and others. The Los Angeles
Times calls his orchestrations “...colorful”
while adding “...even more dimension...” to the
compositions.
Growing up in Syracuse, NY, Sean displayed a
passion for music and showed musical talent at
an early age. Sean benefited from loving parents
who supported his musical aspirations and
challenged him to explore music as a career.
During his undergraduate years at Syracuse
University, Sean’s writing career began to take
shape with the guidance of Larry Clark. As
Vice-President at Carl Fischer Music, Larry
continues to be a major influence in Sean’s
professional career as mentor and friend.
Sean enjoys an active and busy schedule as a
guest conductor at schools and honor ensembles
around the country. Through his growing number
of commissions and published works, Sean is
excited to continue contributing to the rich
history of wind band and orchestral literature.
An annual ASCAP Special Awards winner, Sean was
a composition fellow at the Henry Mancini
Institute in Los Angeles, and holds degrees from
New England Conservatory and Syracuse
University. His music is published exclusively
by Carl Fischer.
Matt Jordan, Front Ensemble Arranger: Matt
Jordan currently lives in the Nashville, TN area,
where he serves as a freelance percussionist, as
well as being percussion specialist, front ensemble
arranger, and private lesson instructor for McGavock
High School and Franklin High School. Matt was the
timpanist of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps in
2003 and 2004. In 2004, he received 1st place in the
DCI Timpani Individuals competition, as well as 1st
place in the Percussion Ensemble. The full corps was
also named World Champions the same year. Matt also
was a member of Music City Mystique from 2000-2005,
with whom he won two World Championships in the
independent world class. Matt attends college at
Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro,
TN, where he studies percussion with Lalo Davila.
Matt also has toured with the Cavaliers in Japan,
the MTSU Wind Ensemble in South Korea, and the MTSU
percussion ensemble in Mexico. Matt’s major
influences include - Lalo Davila, Leigh Howard
Stevens, Christopher Norton, John Feddersen, Erik
Johnson, and Bill Wiggins. In 2004, Matt was
awarded first in Percussive Arts Society's
individual timpani competition, where he performed a
combination of original music and arrangements of
Blue Man Group and Metallica. |
